About

I truly believe that “Part of what makes life worth the living are the stories that at are worth the telling.”

This blog really has one purpose, to tell the stories of life.  So sit back, relax and enjoy a little listening, sharing and telling of the stories that sweeten our lives.

My name is D. Mike Collins and I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Leann Collins, for over 27 years.  We have five children, Alisa, Noah, Grace, Meri and Levi.  They fill our lives with learning, living and love.  Together with our friends and neighbors, there are plenty of stories to give both in the telling and in the listening.  Stories with humor, and some with sadness.  Some of delight and others of disappointment.  Some of courage and others of collapse.  Together though, they weave a tale that will last a lifetime and have meaning into all of eternity.

For you see, the greatest story ever told is one of our Lord Jesus Christ coming to earth as a baby to save the world from sin.  John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave us his one and only son that who should ever believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

With that in mind, I try to live by my life mission statement that propels me forward each day. “I seek to be an extension of God Himself, drawing people to Himself, changing them to be like Himself.”  It is what makes like worth the living.

Secondly, I have several rules that have helped Leann and I run our home.  Rule 1, Love God with all your heart all your life.  Rule 2, Obey mama first time and fast.  Rule 3, Be a blessing to a lot of people.  It is my hope and prayer that this blog can be a blessing to many people.  A blessing to encourage everyone to find hope and fulfillment in the person of Jesus Christ, the greatest story ever told.

Finally, I try to live by a quote that has served me well, “Jump into the pool and learn to swim later.”  In other words, take time to consider your paths carefully but do not take too long before moving forward even if the path seems a bit uncertain at times.

That is where stories come in.  They help encourage and inspire us to move forward towards the goal of finishing well even in times of uncertainty, for finishing the race is destined for all of us.  Some day all of us will stand before God and have to give an account for what we have done.  What will you say?  What will I say?  What will God say?

Let’s discover that together as we discover the stories that bind us together along this journey of life.

Blessings,

D. Mike Collins
